Cask Strength - Spirits Journal USA Rum Review September 2011 by Paul Pacult - Platinum

HOLEY DOLLAR PLATINIUM CASK STRENGTH - Pot Still Rum 75.9% abv
Gorgeous, bright, new copper/henna colour; idea clarity. This stunnning aroma has a soy sauce opening character that isn't overshadowed by the stratospheric abv; another eigtht minutes of air exposure bring out toasted, roasted aromas that I think resemble charred pork or barbequed brisket or charred marsh mallow. Entry is in tensely vegetal/grassy, wild fire like hot and warming but not underdesirably so, mid palate is cocoa-like, stunningly, oily, chewy, resinous and gentle considering the abv. Reminds me in the finish of burnt oranges, A handsome, nicely integrated mouthful that is not for rum novices. "Superb/Highly Recommended"
