THREE rums produced by Australian distillers Holey Dollar Rum have walked away with 'Best in Class' awards at the 2010 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), held in London. Holey Dollar's Premium, Overproof and Cask Strength rums each won the awards for the second year running, while the Holey Dollar Overproof Rum also went on to win the 'World's Best Rum' trophy in a unanimous panel vote, beating many respected Caribbean and West Indian rums. Master distiller, Stuart Gilbert, said he takes great pride in the company's unique distilling process, which includes using potstills, and extra ageing in oak barrels. "At Holey Dollar nothing artificial is used, no expense is spared, and quality is never substituted, to create this special and unique tasting rum:' he said. Holey Dollar Rum is the only rum which is owned and distributed by 100% Australian family owned company, and is the current titleholder of the 'Worldwide Distiller of the Year' award.
